First Steps

Chase has finally pushed past just finger walking and has begun taking many steps on his own. My Mom and Dad have been here all week working on the bathroom and at night for entertainment my Dad has been helping Chase gain some confidence and take steps on his own. Finally on Wednesday night Chase took off. He managed to walk the entire length of the carpet on his own. It was really exciting! He was able to gather from the cheering that what he was doing wasn't scary but fun and for the next 45minutes just ran back and forth from person to person across the carpet- giggling his head off. He giggled so much at times that his walking looked a bit like a drunken stumble. Since then he has on several occasions decided to just take off on his own for things he wants, which wouldn't be a big deal if he didn't fall at the end of every run (he hasn't mastered the stop/stand, yet). We are having such fun with this new experience.

Home Again

We just got back last night. Ryan had some much needed Father & Son time before flying out on a business trip. Luckily it is only for a few days. My parents are determined to finish the bathroom so who knows how long they will stay in town- probably til the weekend. Here are some photos from our trip.

Gone Again

All is well in Cortner World. Chase and I have hitched a free ride back upstate for a few days. My parents were down for round 3 with the bathroom renovation. My Dad needed to come back for work this week but wants to return next week to finish (keep your fingers crossed)! Anyone who has ever renovated a pre-war apartment/building might understand why a simple bathroom renovation takes so long. This is our last home project so we are able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Chase is still working on his teeth and his walking skills. He refuses help from a second hand when offered now- he likes the one handed challenge. He has also mastered walking up the stairs. It is pretty cute to watch him lift his leg up to his chest in order to raise it high enough to reach the next step.
The weather has turned springish the past few days so we have been enjoying the outdoors. Chase took his first scooter ride yesterday- I will post pictures when I get home.

Toofies

Well not only has Chase's front top two teeth made their appearance but now his next set of top teeth are coming in too. It will be so strange for my little baby to have lots of teeth. He even started eating food with his fingers today.
Wow, this year has gone by fast!
We went to visit my girlfriend who just had her baby and it is unbelievable how small they are at birth and how quickly they grow. Chase looked so HUGE next to her and she was almost 10 pounds. I feel a bit sad as we get ready to celebrate the big ONE!
We have been mostly hanging out at home, as you can see we have now added playing in the fridge as an activity. It looks like he is asking me if he can have some soda in the last picture. Since we have let him explore in there any time the fridge door opens he is sprint crawling to get inside.

Gymboree Fun

Last week, Ryan took an extra day off to catch up on some family time. We were able to go to a "free play" time at Gymboree. When you take a class at Gymboree you can also attend any or all of these free plays offered during the week, it is just open gym time where you can do what ever you want. We try to go at least once or twice a week. Chase loves watching the big kids and it is nice to get out and play with different stuff. It can get pretty loud in there and then Chase clams up and stares at the chaos. We have met lots of nice mommies during free play, too.
Chase is still working on those front teeth. About 2 mm of the teeth are showing and they look so huge. Chase is dangerously close to walking. He can walk without falling when he is just holding onto one hand, instead of two hand helping. When the weather is nice we have been going to the park and walking all around in our big boy shoes. Yesterday he took two steps on his own before falling forward. Getting close!!
