First Haircut

We finally broke down and took Chase for his first haircut. We love his sweet curls and have been dragging our feet worried that he would look too grown up. But the time came when his hair got a bit unruly, Ryan turned to me and said "I think it is time for that haircut." So we went to a cute little kids place. He got to sit in a jeep and was good as gold (for most of it). The cape started to make him uncomfortable in the end but overall he was just curious about what was happening. They gave us lots of locks and even a certificate.
Both of us were pleasantly surprised at how cute it looks- much neater but still curly and wild :)

My Gym

We have recently joined a new class at My Gym. I had heard great things about this new Gymboree type class not far from the house and decided we would check it out for fun. I hadn't really thought we would join as we will be busy traveling this summer. But from the minute we entered this gym Chase's face lit up and he just ran around smiling and dancing through the whole class. They play great 80's music with this beat going that Chase was really getting into to, it was pretty funny. He is totally in love with the ball pit, although he doesn't exactly know what to do in there. They have a great system where you oscillate between free play and formal activity. Sometimes the activities are swings or an airplane zip line or balance beam, all kinds of interesting stuff that changes each week. So needless to say I couldn't resist. We are loving it so it is worth every penny.

Ribbit!

Here is my little ham, posing for his photo shoot. Chase is getting so big. He has been talking up a storm lately. He looks straight at you and says something that looks so important but incomprehensible. We have been working very hard on learning some words. We have managed to get the B sound but mostly he uses it to say Bob. Chase is eating just like a big boy. He is totally weaned and is drinking all of his milk from a cup. He even walks to the fridge and starts calling when he wants something to eat. Even his sleep is much improved. He sleeps at least 7 hours straight before waking for a little cuddle before going back to bed. Ryan and I are both getting a lot more rest now that we don't have a little squirmer in the middle.

Bun in the Oven

Well our family is growing once again. Chase is going to be a big brother! We have just finished our first trimester so we figured it was time to let the cat out of the bag. We found out pretty early but had a little scare when my hormones weren't high enough. I was put on some medication and so far everything has gone really well. Of course I have had some morning sickness, mostly it just keeps me from eating anything at all. But it has settled down in the past few weeks. We are so excited!! Baby Cortner will be a Christmas baby, our due date is December 26th, poor thing will probably always feel slighted around birthday time.
Here are some recent pictures of our sweet baby GIRL!!! Yes, it is a GIRL! We almost fell right off the ultrasound table yesterday when we heard the news. Ryan and I had assumed we would be one of those couples with all boys but apparently this is not the case. Of course I went straight to the baby boutique down the street and bought her an adorable little pink outfit, I couldn't resist. It is funny that a few weeks ago Ryan said to me that he felt ready to have a little girl. With our first he wanted a little boy because he felt he would understand them better and he would know what to do with them but now that he has had some experience being a dad he feels he can handle a girl. I am more concerned about handling 2 munchkins. I am sure I will have my hands full next year!

Little Rascal

We had quite an interesting afternoon yesterday. Most of you know we live in a building with an elevator. I can't tell you how many times I have gotten off and on that elevator and thought that the gap is big enough to swallow a set of keys so I need to be careful if Chase is holding them. Well, low and behold the day came when I was distracted and down they went into the abyss. It was like watching a movie in slow motion- first I saw Chase shake and throw the keys in total disgust that I would try and offer him such a stupid toy, then I watched as the keys land by the crack and slowly slip over the edge and disappear. My heart sank- now what? Luckily for us Ryan was in town and so I called him. He was in a meeting so he answer "Is it an emergency?" YES, YES, an EMERGENCY! I think was my exact reply. He did drop everything and come to our rescue and luckily our friends were home so we went up and asked if we could hang out for a while until our Daddy got home, which was lucky for me because Chase had no shoes on (we were only going downstairs to switch our laundry) and I have no idea how I could have entertained him for 45 minutes without letting him run free.
Hoepfully when our super gets back from his vacation tomorrow he can fish my keys out!
Other than that everything is going well. Ryan was sick all weekend :( so I didn't get much down time. Chase and I went to a birthday party for Chase's buddy Amanda, who also turned one. We had a nice time, although we were both totally wiped out by the time we made it home.

My Boys

Finally, Ryan is ours again. Ryan has spent the past few months devoted to studying for the CFA exam. We have been waiting patiently for test day, which finally came on Saturday. We spent all day on Sunday together!!! We went into the city, had lunch and did some shopping. It was so nice to have his undivided attention. Chase was also loving having Daddy around. They spent some time running after the pigeons at the park. Chase is obsessed with birds right now.
Chase is also back to his regular cheery self. He had a bout with roseola but is totally healed and his teeth must be smoothing out as well. His appetite is back to normal (thankfully, his little legs are getting so skinny), we just need to back into a good sleep routine and we will be set.
